According to Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Nitish Kumar, Amit ignored repeated warnings and got too close to the elephants. “These kinds of incidents keep happening even though the Forest Department frequently makes announcements urging people to maintain a safe distance from wild elephants,” DFO Kumar said.
DFO Kumar also revealed that around 42 elephants, moving in multiple groups, are currently roaming the forests along the Bokaro-Ramgarh border. Officials have repeatedly warned residents and visitors to avoid venturing near these wild herds, stressing the risks involved.
A Similar Tragedy in Odisha
Just days earlier, in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, a young man was trampled to death by an elephant while trying to get a closer look at a herd. The incident occurred in the Narasandh Joba village, where about 30 elephants had strayed from Jharkhand into the region.
Forest authorities continue to warn people against trying to photograph or take selfies with wild animals, calling such behavior extremely risky.
