Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a major attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
On Tuesday, while addressing a gathering, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief said, "I want to tell the BJP that you have money, hotels, and all agencies. But still you will lose this battle because I am a street fighter. I fight directly on the ground."
Mamata Banerjee gave this statement at the end of the ban imposed on her by the Election Commission of India (ECI), by which she was banned from doing any kind of campaigning from 8 pm on April 12 to 8 pm on April 13.
The ban was imposed on her as she was accused of inflammatory speech in a meeting. It was alleged that Mamata Banerjee had asked for votes on the basis of Hindu-Muslim division at a TMC rally. The Election Commission had earlier issued a notice to Mamata Banerjee seeking clarification in the matter.
Mamata Banerjee sat on a dharna near the Gandhi idol in Kolkata on Tuesday morning to protest against this decision of the Election Commission.
