Darjeeling (West Bengal): Union Home Minister Amit Shah slammed Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday for labeling the top BJP leadership as outsiders to West Bengal.
Addressing a BJP rally in Darjeeling, Amit Shah said, "Didi calls me an outsider. She calls PM Narendra Modi an outsider. Didi, let me tell you who the outsiders are. Communist ideology is external, came from Russia and China. TMC's votebank is outsiders, they are infiltrators."
While wooing the Gorkha community in Darjeeling, Amit Shah said that BJP is ready to fight anyone for their honour.
"Gorkha and Nepali brothers - if anyone tries to scare you, do not be afraid. BJP can fight anyone for the honor of the Gorkha and Nepali community," Amit Shah said.
He also promised to give ST status to 11 castes of the Gorkha community.
"Remove Mamata didi and bring in a BJP CM. The party will give ST status to 11 castes of the Gorkha community," Amit Shah said.
Recalling an incident from 1986, Amit Shah said that the communists had set the hills of West Bengal on fire.
"They killed 1,200 Gorkhas. Didi did nothing. People were killed and an FIR was registered against thousands of people. But the FIR was withdrawn from selected people. After the formation of the BJP government, the cases registered against the Gorkha people will be withdrawn within a week," Amit Shah said.
