Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who arrived during the election campaign in Nandigram, held a roadshow in Nandigram, a high-profile constituency in the East Medinipur district.
Here, there is a fight between West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and BJP's Shuvendu Adhikari.
Addressing a press conference after attending the roadshow, Amit Shah said that the unprecedented enthusiasm shown by the people of Nandigram in the roadshow indicates that BJP candidate Shuvendu Adhikari is going to win the Nandigram seat with a huge margin.
"Everyone is in the mood that change has to come in West Bengal. But the simplest way to bring change in West Bengal is to defeat Mamata Didi in Nandigram," he said.
Shuvendu Adhikari has vowed to defeat Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram by more than 50,000 votes. Thousands of BJP supporters took part in the rally. Residents were out of their homes in large numbers to watch the roadshow.
Amit Shah and Suvendu Adhikari accepted the greetings of the people of the roadshow showered flower petals on them. BJP supporters shouted slogans of 'Jai Shri Ram', 'Narendra Modi Zindabad' and 'Amit Shah Zindabad'.
"A woman was raped five kilometers from where Mamata Didi resides at night. I want to ask Mamata Didi what will happen to the safety of women in West Bengal when a rape takes place 5 km from your residence in Nandigram,'' Amit Shah said.
