New Delhi: Flamboyant Neeraj Chopra has raised the hopes of ending medal drought at the World Athletics Championships as he qualified for the finals of Javelin Throw in the very first attempt. Golden boy threw the spear at the distance of 88.39m at Hayward Field, Oregon, USA.
Another Javelin thrower from India, Rohit Yadav, has also qualified for the finals with the throw of 80.42m. India now has three finalist in the Javelin Throw. Other than javelin throw, Eldhose Paul has created history by qualifying for the final of triple jump.

Women’s Javelin Throw Finals

Annu Rani has qualified for the women’s javelin throw finals with a throw of 59.60 meters. This is second time that the India women athlete has reached the finals of the game. Earlier, she has reached the finale in 2019 at World Athletics Championships Doha 2019 but ended the campaign at eighth. Annu has a personal best of 63.82m, a national record, set in Jamshedpur in May earlier this year.
Men’s Javelin Throw Finals

Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Neeraj Chopra and Rohit Yadav have qualified for the finals of the event. Neeraj Chopra booked his berth in the finals in his first attempt only. Thouhg, Yadav’s best throw remained at 80.42m but he managed to get his spot in the finals.
Men’s Triple Jump Finals

Eldhose Paul made a giant leap of 16.68m to secure a historic final appearance at the World Athletics Championships. The triple jumper finished sixth in the Group A qualification round and 12th overall to make it to the finals. Paul has a season’s and personal best of 16.99m which he had recorded while winning gold in the Federation Cup in April.
