Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25: India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah has cleared the air on the inclusion of recuperating fast bowler Mohammed Shami into the squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The first Test of the bilateral series between India and Australia begins at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Friday.
During the pre-match press conference on Thursday ahead of the Perth Test, Bumrah hinted at the possibility of Shami playing in Australia on this tour.
“Shami bhai has started to play cricket, and obviously, he is an integral part of this team. I’m sure the management is also keeping a keen eye (on him). Hopefully, things fall in place and you might see him here as well,” said Bumrah.
Shami has loads of experience and is a senior bowler of the India cricket team. It is due to Shami’s fantastic record against Australia that fans are missing him.
Shami’s record in Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Shami is one of the most successful Indian bowlers in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In 11 matches, he has scalped 40 wickets. Six wickets for 56 runs is his best bowling figure in an innings.
