Mangaluru: Three people died and six others were seriously injured after an Innova car crashed on the Mangaluru–Bengaluru National Highway (NH-75) on Saturday morning, according to Dakshina Kannada district police.
The accident took place near Narayan Guru Circle at BC Road in Bantwal. The vehicle, which was travelling from Bengaluru toward Udupi, reportedly lost control and hit the circle.
There were nine people in the car. Three Bengaluru residents Ravi (64), Nanjamma (75) and Ramya (23) died on the spot. The other six passengers, including the driver, sustained serious injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police said all nine occupants were relatives. The Bantwal Traffic Police have registered a case and begun an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.
