Thiruvananthapuram: A man and his five-year-old son died after a speeding SUV car rammed into their motorcycle near Kilimanoor area in Thiruvananthapuram district. The SUV car driver was allegedly drunk.
The man’s older son, who was riding pillion, also sustained significant injuries in the accident on Saturday night and was taken to a nearby hospital where he is now in a critical condition, according to a police official from Nagaroor.
The two people who were in the SUV were detained on Saturday itself, and according to the police, a preliminary examination found that they had ingested alcohol. The results of their blood alcohol tests are pending, it continued.
According to police, the guy and his two boys were returning from a trip to a neighbouring market to buy groceries when the awful tragedy happened.
His younger kid was sitting in the SUV when it struck them from the opposite side as they were travelling back.
Locals told a TV station that just the guy and his older kid were on the road when police arrived at the scene; they were rushed to a local hospital.
The younger son’s headless body was then discovered in the sewer during a later inspection of the area, and the head was later located farther downstream, they claimed.
The accused will be brought before a court after the inquest processes, according to the police.
According to authorities, they have been charged under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), which has a maximum sentence of life in prison and a minimum of 10 years in prison, and Section 34 (common intention). HMP PTI HDA HDA
