All this, Grenadian star Peters Anderson stood high at the top with a throw of 90.46m which he later improved to 90.54m. Chopra went on to give his best attempt with 88.13m, the silver medal-winning throw.

India had never won a medal in Javelin Throw at WAC before and the 24-year-old star has changed this for his country. Before this, only one medal has come to India and that was in 2003 by Anju Bobby George.

With the silver medal, Chopra has ended the medal drought for the contrary and will inspire the upcoming athletes.

On the other hand, Rohit Yadav finished 10th with the best throw of 78.72m. In his first two throws, Rohit landed at 77.96m and 78.05m distance which was not enough to grab the medal at the World Athletics Championships. Earlier, he had qualified for the finals with the best throw of 80.42m which landed him in the 11th spot.

Earlier in a visual interview, Neeraj had said, “I was 6cm short of the 90m mark, I was pretty close. I hope to cross 90m this year. But I never think or focus on distance going into a competition. I just try to give my 100 percent,”

This game will surely inspire the 24-year-old Indian to cross the 90m mark as he prepares for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Paris Olympics 2024.

Neeraj Chopra had qualified for the finals in his very attempt he threw his spear at the distance on 88.39m.
