New Delhi: In August 2022, Indian automaker Mahindra & Mahindra showcased its upcoming 5 electric SUV cars in concept avatars in the UK. The range will be available in two new sub-brands XUV.e and BE. The company recently introduced the Mahindra XUV.e9 and BE.05 electric SUVs in the county along with the BE Rall E concept. The company announced that the Mahindra XUV.e8 will be launched in the country by the end of 2024. This SUV will be the electric version of the XUV 700. According to media reports, the testing of the electric XUV700 (XUVe.8) is going to start soon and a 54 kWh battery pack can be found in it.
How will be the look?
The design and internal layout of this concept SUV will be similar to the current ICE version XUV700. It could get a closed-off front grille, bumper mounted headlamps, a wide LED light bar running towards the bumper, a sharp looking bonnet along with some new cosmetic changes.
Dimension
The Mahindra XUVe.8 concept will measure 4740mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1760mm in height, and have a long wheelbase of 2762 mm. Which is about 45 mm longer, 10 mm wider and 5 mm higher than its ICE model XUV700. Also, its wheelbase is longer by 7mm.
Powertrain
A battery pack of up to 80kWh can be seen in the production model of the Mahindra XUV.e8 electric SUV. The electric motor fitted in it can generate power ranging from 230bhp to 350bhp. All-wheel drive system can be seen in it.
Mahindra will design its XUVe.8 on its new INGLO modular platform. The platform is adjustable to suit different body sizes, wheelbases, track dimensions, powertrain configurations and AWD and RWD systems. The same battery back can be seen in all the upcoming electric cars. Prismatic will be used for small battery packs and blade architecture will be used for large battery packs.
Who will compete
This car can compete with Hyundai’s Ionic 5 in the Indian market, which the company has recently launched in the country. The ex-showroom price of this car has been kept at Rs 44.9 lakh.
