Kiran Rao returned to the director’s chair after 13 years with ‘Laapataa Ladies’. The filmmaker perfectly portrayed the culture of rural areas of North India in the early 2000s in her movie and kept everything realistic yet beautiful. From showcasing unexplained old practices to reflecting the need for feminism, Kiran Rao captured the essence of what needs to be discussed in several Indian rural families.

The movie stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, and Sparsh Shrivastava in the lead roles with Chhaya Kadam and Ravi Kishan seen in pivotal roles. Apart from Ravi Kishan, all the actors were lesser known before the release of ‘Laapataa Ladies’. The choice of casting new actors over established stars turned out to be a perfect choice for ‘Laapataa Ladies’ because the actors’ personas did not overpower their performances. All the actors impeccably portrayed their respective roles. 

While speaking to Netflix, Aamir Khan revealed that he auditioned for the role of the inspector but Kiran Rao chose Ravi Kishan over him.
