The Opposition’s INDIA bloc has finalized a seat-sharing agreement for the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly polls. JMM led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren to fight on 43 seats. However, the Congress party has planned to put tickets in thirty constituencies, RJD has planned to put tickets in six constituencies, and left parties in three constituencies only. The Left parties will concentrate only on the Nirsa, Sindri, and Bagodar constituencies, reports India Today.
A “friendly contest” is expected among INDIA bloc candidates in Dhanwar, Chhatarpur, and Vishrampur constituencies. The BJP while contesting from Dhanwar has given its seat to senior BJP leader and Former MP Babulal Marandi. There are two major political parties’ alliances that are contesting in this list INDIA bloc with JMM, Congress, RJD, and CPI-ML. Out of the three seats of Dhanwar, Bishrampur and Chhatarpur, JMM will have a friendly fight with CPI-ML,” said the JMM General Secretary Vinod Pandey.
Jharkhand will have an 82-member Legislative Assembly and the polls will be conducted in two phases the counting will take place on November 23. JMM has come out with its first list of candidates: Hemant Soren for Barhet and his wife Kalpana Murmu Soren for the Gandey seat.
Soren urged the Centre to clear an amount of Rs 1.36 lakh crore outstanding towards coal dues payable to Jharkhand. Tweeting on X, he called upon the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and home minister Amit Shah, who are to visit the state, to release the required funds for Jharkhand’s growth. Soren also appealed to BJP MPS to extend support for the clearance of these dues on behalf of the Jharkhandis.
