Wanindu Hasaranga will sit out of the three-game ODI series between India and Sri Lanka with a hamstring injury. As was expected, the first ODI ended dramatically; so the teams levelled, and the second ODI was played at R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday. Hasaranga hurt his hamstring during his last ball. Jeffrey Vandersay replaces him. It is a major blow to Sri Lanka, who have already lost quite a few of their key bowlers in Matheesha Pathirana, Dilshan Madushanka, Dushmantha Chameera, and Nuwan Thushara.
“Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the rest of the ODI series due to a left hamstring injury,” said Sri Lanka Cricket in an official statement.
“He felt pain in his left hamstring while bowling the last ball of his 10th over in the first ODI. An MRI confirmed the injury,” the statement said.
“Jeffrey Vandersay will replace Hasaranga in the squad,” it added.
