9 Killed, Around 2800 Injured As Hezbollah Fighters’ Pagers Explode In Lebanon

Lebanon’s Health Ministry advised people to avoid similar devices until the cause of the explosions is identified.

Lebanese Health Minister Firass Abiad has confirmed that nine people were killed, including a child, and around 2,800 were wounded in the incident.

Numerous wireless devices exploded across Lebanon on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. This incident occurred a day after Israeli leaders hinted at possibly intensifying their military actions against Hezbollah.

Hezbollah Devices Involved

A Lebanese intelligence official, who spoke anonymously, stated that the explosions were caused by pagers belonging to Hezbollah members. The blasts resulted in numerous injuries.

Health Ministry and Red Cross Response

Lebanon’s Health Ministry advised people to avoid similar devices until the cause of the explosions is identified. The Lebanese Red Cross dispatched 80 ambulances to respond to the blasts, which affected areas in southern and eastern Lebanon, as well as Beirut.

Ongoing Conflict

The explosions are part of the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, which began nearly 11 months ago. The conflict has mostly involved missile and rocket exchanges, with warnings from both sides about the potential for an expanded war involving ground forces.
