The 82nd Golden Globe Awards marked the highly anticipated kickoff to the 2025 Hollywood award season, with a star-studded ceremony held at the iconic Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. Hosted by renowned stand-up comedian Nikki Glaser, who made history as the first solo female host, the evening was filled with laughter, excitement, and surprises.
Glaser’s sharp wit and clever one-liners had the A-list audience in stitches, with a particularly biting remark about the upcoming presidential inauguration sparking both laughter and nervous applause. Despite the lighthearted tone, the ceremony was not without its tense moments, as nominees and winners alike took to the stage to accept their awards.
In one of the night’s most highly anticipated categories, France’s Emilia Perez claimed the coveted Best Non-English Language Motion Picture award, edging out a talented field of competitors that included Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light, I’m Still Here, The Girl with the Needle, The Seed of the Sacred Fig, and Vermiglio.
Meanwhile, in the Best Director category, Brady Corbet lifted the trophy for his film The Brutalist, beating out a formidable lineup of nominees that included Kapadia, Jacques Audiard, Sean Baker, Edward Berger, and Coralie Fargeat. With its usual blend of glamour, humor, and heartfelt moments, the 82nd Golden Globe Awards proved once again why it’s one of the most highly anticipated events in the Hollywood calendar.
