New Delhi: Tragedy struck in southeast Delhi when a group of individuals fatally stabbed a man and injured his wife. The Delhi police reported that the victim had a prior dispute with one of the accused, which led to this horrific act.
The distressing incident came to light when the police received a PCR call around 9:40 pm on Friday, reporting that four to five people had forcefully entered a residence near JD gym in Aali Vihar. The assailants then proceeded to stab the man, identified as Arvind Mandal, in the chest and hand, while his wife Rakha Mandal (43) sustained an injury to her forehead, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast) Rajesh Deo.
The injured victims were promptly taken to a hospital by the police. However, Arvind succumbed to his injuries during the treatment.
The sequence of events leading to this tragedy began when Arvind got into a heated altercation around 5 PM on Friday while escorting his son Aakash home from school. The argument took place on Kali Mandir Road in Sarita Vihar and involved Manoj Haldar, with whom Arvind had previous enmity. After resolving the issue, Arvind returned home with his son.
However, around 9:30 PM, a group of five to six individuals arrived at Arvind’s residence on motorcycles and brutally attacked him using sharp-edged weaponsI. They also attacked his wife and fled.
Nepal Chand Mandal, the maternal uncle of the deceased, revealed that Arvind suffered between 10 to 15 stab wounds during the attack. He recounted the earlier confrontation, stating that Arvind had been threatened by the assailants after the initial argument with Manoj Haldar.
The police have registered a case against the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with the incident. Four individuals, identified as Raju Patra (26), Ravi alias Gollu (19), Shambu (26), and a 17-year-old juvenile, all residents of Madanpur Khadar, have been detained. Efforts are underway to apprehend two more suspects, Vijay Patra alias Ponchu (20) and Manoj Haldar, who are still evading arrest.
