Ludhiana: Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann paid tribute to freedom fighter Shaheed Kartar Singh on his commemoration day and announced development projects worth whopping 45.8 crores for a complete revamp of his native village, Sarabha.
Speaking at a recently held state-level event, CM Mann said that this project is paying a homage for the martyred freedom fighter and promised a model transformation for the village. He disclosed that the development plan focuses on providing essential amenities, sports facilities, and training infrastructure in the village.
In accordance with the development project, he gave a crackdown of the funds. The government will invest ₹40 crore to widen the existing two-lane road from Lalto Kalan to Sarabha, Raikot, and Halwara into a four-lane road, providing a direct link to Halwara Airport. An additional ₹2.82 crore will fund a surface water supply scheme, while ₹2 crore will go towards a 10-m indoor shooting range with a target safety setup. Sports facilities will also receive attention, including ₹10 lakh for renovating the basketball court, ₹3 lakh for developing a volleyball court, and constructing six concrete benches at the sports ground.
Mann further said that the Forest Nursery will be upgraded with modern technology at a cost of ₹89 lakh, and a training academy for security and police forces will be established. The academy will feature a derelict MiG-21 aircraft from the Air Force Academy for pilot and drone training.
CM Mann urged all Punjabis to participate in the commemorative events being organized at Anandpur Sahib from November 23-25 to mark the 350th Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur. He stated that the Punjab govt has been organizing large-scale programmes, including light and sound shows, Nagar Kirtans, drone shows, and Kirtan Durbars, to ensure the life and teachings of the Guru reached every household
