Bharat Jodo Yatra reaches Srinagar, Flag hoisting at Lal Chowk

New Delhi: The Bharat Jodo Yatra has reached its final stop which is Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will unfurl the Tricolor at the Congress office located near the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar at 12 noon.

Today is the 135th day of the Congress’ footmarch whcih started on September 7, 2022 from Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu under the leadership of former party chief Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi will hold a press conference at the party’s state office around 2 pm. The Bharat Jodo Yatra will be concluded on January 30 at the Sher-e-Kashmir Maidan in Srinagar, Srinagar.

In view of their safety, the entire area has been sealed. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said there will be a conference of all 23 opposition parties on January 30 and that will be the last function.

Earlier on Saturday, when the yatra entered Kashmir, Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi also participated in the ‘padyatra’. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and her daughter Iltija Mufti and her mother Gulshan Nazir were also seen walking in step with Rahul.

Describing the Bharat Jodo Yatra as a penance for himself, Rahul Gandhi said that his aim was to connect with the people and understand their problems and this aim is being fulfilled through this journey.

Throughout the yatra, Rahul Gandhi targeted the central government over the issue of unemployment and inflation.

Started from Kanyakumari, to end in Jammu and Kashmir

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra started from Kanyakumari from September 7, which has so far covered 11 states Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.

It has covered 3,750 km, passing through 12 states. It will cover a distance of 3,750 km from Kanyakumari in the south to Kashmir in the north. The yatra will end in Jammu and Kashmir on January 30.
