Badrinath Yatra: Uttarakhand administration on Thursday blocked the national highway (NH-7) due to landslide caused by the incessant rain in Chamoli district. According to officials, the boulders and debris fell on highway near Pipalkotim from the hill troubled commuters to proceed their journey. (Badrinath Yatra)
The highways that has been closed due to landslide included Pagalnala, Gulabkoti and Helang. It is informed that rains continued in these regions. Chamoli district administration has taken precautionary measures and stopped pilgrims at safer places like Gauchar, Karnprayag, and Nandprayag.

An intense spell of rain continued over the northwestern Himalayan region and various roads are blocked and several people are stuck due to landslides.

Drivers of big vehicle are risking their lives while trying to commute on the highway in Dharali on the Gangotri Highway.
The State Disaster Operation Center located in the State Secretariat is monitoring the situation in the state in light of the alerts of the Meteorological Department, officials said.
The four pilgrims destinations- Yamunotari, Gangotari, Kedarnath and badrinath are collectively called Char Dham. It is situated at the height of the Himalayas. This religious place every year draw huge number of pilgrims and it is one of the most poplar religious place across the northeren part of India.
The Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council (UTDC) had earlier said that it would issue tokens to devotees visiting Char Dham Yatra. Char Dham is one of the most popular pilgrimage centers in the country. Worship is done in the temples for six months while for the next six months the doors of the temples are closed.
Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are located in the higher reaches of the Himalayas. These four temples open only for six months in a year. They open in summer (April–May) and close with the onset of winter (October–November).
