Under the Modi’s government’s ambitious cheetah reintroduction programme, PM himself released the first batch of 8 cheetahs on his 72nd birthday (17 September) in Kuno National Park, Madhya Pradesh. These Cheetah were brought in from Namibia.

In January last year, India and South Africa had signed a MoU to transport African Cheetahs to India.
