The Ghaziabad Police are questioning YouTuber Shikha Metray, also known as Kuwari Begum, after she was accused of sharing explicit content and promoting ways to sexually abuse infants.
Activist Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj filed an FIR on June 12 after reporting Shikha Metray’s problematic content on X (formerly Twitter) and urging the police to take action against the YouTuber.
In her complaint, Bhardwaj pointed to a video called ‘She will say no. Let her’ on Metray’s YouTube channel. She accused Metray of suggesting that men should ignore women’s consent and promoting sexual aggression towards women and children. Bhardwaj also claimed that Metray’s content misleads young boys.
Bhardwaj found the channel and shared clips from Metray’s videos on X, urging authorities to remove the content and take action against the self-proclaimed gamer for encouraging sexual offenses against children.
The videos quickly went viral on social media, causing a huge backlash against Kuwari Begum.
Social media investigators discovered that Metray graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi and currently works in the clothing and apparel industry.
Under increasing criticism, Metray seems to have removed or shut down her social media accounts. Her YouTube and Instagram profiles could not be accessed when this report was written.
The police continue to investigate the matter.
