Amid the ongoing debate on X regarding the India vs Bharat issue, NCERT has clarified its position. On Monday, June 17, NCERT director Dinesh Prasad Saklani informed PTI that both ‘India’ and ‘Bharat’ will be used interchangeably in NCERT books, as stated in the constitution. He explained, ‘We will use ‘India’ or ‘Bharat’ wherever appropriate. We have no preference for either term.” He further added, ‘Both terms are already present in our textbooks, and this will continue in future editions. This debate is pointless.’
