In India, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport has secured a spot in the world’s top 10 busiest airports, showing India’s growing presence in global air travel.

Dubai International Airport once again topped the list as the world’s busiest airport in December 2025.
The airport recorded around 5.5 million scheduled seats.

How These Rankings Are Decided
OAG ranks airports based on scheduled airline seats, not just the number of flights. OAG also prepares separate rankings for “global airports” and “international airports.” The global list is calculated using total scheduled airline capacity, covering both domestic and international flights, while the international list looks only at seats allocated to overseas routes.
This distinction is important, as airports with extensive domestic networks may appear busier by flight numbers, but not necessarily by total passenger-carrying capacity.
