Michelle, a 47-year-old woman from Missouri, USA, faces charges for allegedly contaminating her husband’s Mountain Dew with RoundUp herbicide. According to Oddity Central, she purportedly did this because he didn’t appreciate the 50th birthday party she organized for him. Herbicide is a chemical used by farmers to eliminate unwanted plants. On June 24, the husband, whose name remains undisclosed for privacy, reported the incident to the Laclede County Sheriff’s Office. He suspected his wife of attempting to poison him after noticing an unusual taste in a bottle of Mountain Dew in their refrigerator on May 1. Initially disregarded, he later experienced symptoms including diarrhea, throat irritation, discolored mucus, and vomiting.

He noticed that the Mountain Dew tasted normal when consumed outside his home. However, the bottles in his garage fridge had the same strange flavor. Concerned that something might have been added to his favorite beverage, he reviewed the surveillance footage. The cameras revealed his wife taking a two-liter bottle of Diet Mountain Dew from the garage fridge, along with a bottle of Roundup weed killer, into the house, and then returning them to their original spots.

Fearing for his safety, the man copied the CCTV footage and entrusted it to someone in case of his death from poisoning. He altered his routine, yet whenever he stored a new Mountain Dew in the garage fridge, his wife spiked it with herbicide. Her repeated use nearly depleted the first container, and she had another ready on the shelf one day.

The man suspected his wife’s motives: either she sought his $500,000 life insurance payout or was involved in an affair. When questioned, she admitted being upset because he hadn’t praised her for organizing his birthday party.
