New Delhi: Many local festivals and activities are missed by expatriates. Unable to attend her brother’s wedding, a young woman who had just relocated to the UK for a career was devastated. She felt quite uneasy, though, about missing her brother’s wedding. As a result, she boarded a ticket back to India and shocked her family at the ceremony.

Her unexpected entrance was captured on camera, and Humans of Bombay posted the clip to Instagram. The woman is seen in the clip navigating the crowd to the wedding stage. Her mother shouts with joy when she sees her, and her father can be seen getting up and approaching her to hug her as well.

On November 8, the woman left for a job in the UK, and the wedding happened on November 26. The woman explained the turn of events to the Humans of Bombay and stated that she had decided not to miss her brother’s wedding after consulting with her coworkers. She informed her brother that she would be arriving via phone. Because they intended to surprise their family, the siblings kept their parents in the dark about her arrival.

She was anxious to see her family, so the travel back to India felt like “the longest flight” of her life. When the husband was preparing to apply the sindoor to the bride, she entered the wedding while still staying with her friend’s family.

“I remember as I was walking towards the mandap, it felt so surreal to see Sagar as a groom. I was instantly hit with the thought, ‘Hum kab etne bade ho gye?’ But this wasn’t the time to get emotional so I ran up to my parents & hugged them tightly. As you can see, Mom jumped out of excitement aur papa tho bas rine he lag gye,” she said.

“The look on everyone’s face was one I’ll never ever forget. I hugged Sagar & his bride Shivani & stepped down from the stage. I happily sat in the front row & watched him marry the girl of his dreams. I was so glad I could make it. He’s my brother, my best friend & honestly, I’d travel anywhere to be a part of his happiness,” she added.

Netizens Reaction

However, her unexpected entrance act was not well received by online users, who complained that it diverted attention from the bride to her. A user commented, “I kinda feel for the bride. The attention. Affection and all limelight should be on her.. I understand the love for her brother but the timing could have been different.”

Another user wrote, “Don’t get me wrong. But turning all attention towards yourself on such an important moment of your brother and sister in laws life is kinda narcissistic.” A third user commented, “I am happy for them but I kinda feel a little sorry for the bride Not the entry at the Sindhoor moment which was supposed to be special and overwhelming in itself.”

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
