A short video shared by American content creator "Kristen Fischer" triggered backlash after she mentioned a few habits of Indians that Americans "hate". Fischer made a video in collaboration with her husband Tim Fischer with the caption, "Things Indians do that Americans hate".
Fischer mentioned eight points in her caption while mimicking the act. The social media users said, "Such a weird post, honestly," and "Thank you for showing the better India.".

In her post, Fischer said, "There are many things that are commonplace in India, pretty unheard of in America. Here are a few things we have noticed are normal in India but would make any American very uncomfortable.

1. Americans like their toilet paper and the thought of using anything else makes them very uncomfortable. They are grossed out by the jet spray and uncomfortable with the thought of getting wet using the toilet.
2. Sharing slippers is something people would never do in the USA. Indian homes usually have communal chappal that anyone who comes over can use. Americans would be very grossed out by this concept.
3. Sharing water bottles is something Americans would be uncomfortable with. Usually, people prefer their bottle and get grossed out by sharing.
4. In India when you go to a restaurant oftentimes one person will order the food for the entire table and everyone will share. In America, people prefer to order and eat their own food and don't like sharing.
5. Eating with hands is something that Americans would be uncomfortable with. They do not like to have their hands messy and eat anything messy with their hands. Indians prefer to eat with their hands and Americans need utensils.
6. Not having kids sit in car seats is completely unheard of in America. They would get very uncomfortable with the thought of kids sitting on someone's lap while riding in a car and not strapped into a 5-point safety harness.
7. Having kids in your bed with you is something that Americans find very uncomfortable. They like their space and always prefer their kids in separate rooms. It would be very hard for Americans to think about having a family all sleep in the same bed.
8. Living with in-laws and other family members would be such a crazy concept in the USA. Americans wouldn't ever dream of permanently living with their parents or in-laws after marriage. It would be extremely uncomfortable for them.
The post has more than 580k views, and a user questioned, "Can I just genuinely ask what the deal is with toilet paper? Can't you guys just use water? I mean we know it's cleaner, please someone explain to me without making it weird," in which Fischer replied, "Americans don't want to get wet, they prefer to stay dry and clean with something dry. But I agree with you, that water is far cleaner."
