A Thane resident’s Tinder outing turned sour after falling victim to a scam involving both his date and the restaurant. What began as a hopeful evening culminated in an exorbitant Rs 44,000 bill, shared on Reddit alongside an image of the invoice.

The user accompanied the image with a cautionary message: ‘Attention, everyone. Tinder scam alert! Posting a bill from a restaurant where a friend went on a date with a girl. The hotel’s name is Hotel de grandeur, located in Royal Plaza building, Bhakti Park, Anand Nagar, Thane.’

The bill showed that on June 12, the individual ordered 18 Jaggerbombs, two Red Bulls, French fries, salted peanuts, four chocolate truffle cakes, and a special mix, totaling Rs 44,829.

Surprised by the astronomical bill, the Reddit user revealed that his friend involved the police, resulting in a mere Rs 4,000 reduction, yet he still had to pay Rs 40,000.

Since it was posted, the content has garnered considerable online attention, sparking diverse reactions in the comment section.

One person questioned, ‘Did someone actually order 18 Jager bombs, or did they just appear on the bill? CCTV could help prove it. How do you prove you’ve been scammed without evidence?’

Another remarked, ‘Did anyone notice the ‘thank you… visit again’ note at the end of the bill?’

A commenter suggested, ‘Why not check the menu prices before ordering? Surely, they would have checked before ordering.’

Another exclaimed, ‘The total on that bill equals my monthly salary.’

Someone else wondered, ‘Who would consume 18 Jager bombs?’
