A Bihar police officer was suspended after a video of him slapping his newlywed wife during rituals at a temple went viral on social media platforms. The woman also filed a complaint against the man, identified as an inspector, at the Superintendent of Police’s office in Bihar.
In the 45-second video, a man wearing a green sweatshirt is seen arguing with the woman (his newlywed wife) over some issue. Later, when he assaults her, people attending the marriage ceremony intervene and rescue the woman. Throughout the argument, the woman remains silent and does not utter a word.
The video was shared by journalist Priya Singh on her social media account, X, on Tuesday around 1.31 pm. Since being uploaded, the video has been viewed by over 200,000 people and has received hundreds of comments.

Social media users expressed anger over the video, with many commenting that “this is wrong” and raising concerns about violence against women.
“Unfair judgement. It needs marriage counselling,” commented a user while another said, “Well, that’s one way to make a “hasty” exit from a wedding! Not quite the honeymoon vibe anyone had in mind. At least the SP didn’t waste time making sure the inspector got his “slap” of justice.”
