After the garland exchange ceremony, a man can be seen on stage handing up a revolver to the bride. Both the bride and groom remain seated while she fires three bullets into the air as part of the ceremonial gunfire.

The Hathras junction police registered a case under section 25 (9) of the Indian Panel Code (IPC) against the bride which describes, “Whoever uses a firearm in a rash or negligent manner or engages in celebratory gunfire so as to endanger human life or safety of others shall be punishable with an imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine which may extend to rupees one lakh, or with both.”

SHO, Girish Chand Gautam said, “A case has been registered against Ragni, a resident of Hathras Junction area, under IPC section 25(9) (celebratory gunfire). Fearing arrest, she has absconded. We are on the lookout for her.”

Police stated that she was involved in a celebratory firing at a guest house in the Salempur area of the Hathras case.
