Man dragged dog from his bike

Ghaziabad: A man from Charan Singh colony in Vijay Nagar dragged a tied stray dog from his bike and dragged it for 2.5 km on Sunday. Police arrested him after the animal welfare organization registered a complaint against him.

As soon as the 35-second video went viral on social media, police arrested the accused from his house.

The video shows him riding the moped with the dog tied to it and eventually stopping after several people on bikes intervened, following him and asking him to stop.

After receiving the video, the President of PFA, Surbhi Rawat from Ghaziabad said, “The accused claimed the dog was showing symptoms of rabies, and he was going to dump him away from the locality. Immediately, I made a police complaint.”

She further added that the dog sends for medical treatment, “According to the doctor’s report, the dog does not have symptoms of rabies or other diseases. He, however, received scars on his face and near his eyes and burn injuries on his skin while being dragged on the road.”

Police filed an FIR against Islam under IPC Section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle or any animal) and relevant sections of the Animal Cruelty Act.
