A university in Lahore, LUMS, is going viral for its annual tradition of ‘Fake Shadi,” where students enjoy it just like a real wedding. In the video, two seniors from the college can be seen in bride and groom attire. While the fake groom is dressed in a sherwani, the bride-to-be is dressed in a lehenga. Other students are also dressed formally as they perform dances to popular Bollywood songs. At the end, they are even seen performing the ‘vidaai’ ritual.

The video was captioned, “Lums having an annual fake shaadi, where two seniors are picked to get married, sounds so fun.” The video got more than 1.51 million views on the post.

A user wrote while prasing Indian culture, “Bollywood has destroyed our generation look where we stand in ranking .our one universty is not in top500 universty on the other hand look at india they are competing with china and US …i m not against parties in universty but we have to focus on main goal.” Another user commented, ‘I hope there is no Ijab and Qabool! That would seal the relationship as actually married per Islamic law Sui juris individuals plus witnesses plus offer and acceptance equates to an actual marriage regardless of whether it was intended as a JOKE!”
