Viral Video: This video is too crazy to be true. A passenger prepared gnocchi from scratch mid-air and posted a clip on Instagram. The bizarre incident has left internet users divided, sparking concerns over food hygiene and airline etiquette. Katie Brooks, a San Diego-based pasta enthusiast, shared the clip with the video title, “POV: You hate airplane food, so you make it yourself.”
In the clip, she starts by kneading a dough by mixing flour and water using her fingers. She next rolls it into long sections and then cuts it into small pieces using a pasta scraper. The pastas are shaped and perfected with a gnocchi board. The final plate is filled with freshly made gnocchi, all prepared while flying at 30,000 feet.
The video was captioned as, “Anyone else?! Since everyone’s going CRAZY over this video. Just trying to show that pasta making is so easy you can do it on an airplane!”

Netizens React
The viral video has garnered over 8.1 million views as of now. While many users have praised the woman’s cooking and creativity skills, others have criticised her for being inconsiderate. A user said, “As a mom of a child with anaphylactic allergy to wheat, I’m shocked. Please don’t do this in an airplane where people are contained in a small vessel, air is circulated and the nearest hospital is hours away.”
Another user commented, “There’s nothing you could say to convince me your hands were clean enough to accomplish this task in an even remotely sanitary way in this environment.” Meanwhile, a third user wrote, “Talk ‘White privilege’. God forbid a person of color, specifically an Indian or any brown person from the Indian subcontinent, had done it, they would have been called out all sorts of names, abuse, and trolls. Double standards of society!!!”
