Viral: A video from Thailand, of a mother elephant and her calf, is going viral on social media, in which a group of vets can be seen saving them after they become stuck in a drain. Initially, the video was uploaded to the Internet in 2022, but it is surfacing again on Twitter and making netizens happy.
The video, shared on Twitter by The Figen, begins with a shot of the mother elephant trapped inside the drain. Heavy rain disrupts the rescue work as the vets struggle to pull her out. The people, on the other hand, are able to extract the mother elephant. As the video progresses, the vets perform CPR on the exhausted mother while others try to dig some mud out of the way to help the baby climb up.

The original video was captioned, “Hero vets save mother elephant’s life with CPR and rescue baby from the drain in Thailand. The animal and her baby slipped into the 7ft deep hole during a storm which made the grass muddy and wet in Nakhon Nayok province, Thailand on July 13. Vets struggled to free the pair because of the torrential monsoon rainy season conditions. The distressed mother was also standing over her child to try and protect him. Wildlife volunteers tranquilised the 10-year-old mother but she hit her head on the edge of the concrete structure – knocking her unconscious”, “The one-year-old calf was rescued shortly after. It took the team more than three hours to finish the operation.”
