In the ever-evolving world of food trends, a unique and bizarre fusion drink has taken the internet by storm- Doodh Cola. This quirky concoction, available at the Balwant Singh Dhaba in Kolkata has caught the eye of an influencer Aradhana Chatterjee.
She shot and uploaded the video on her Instagram page, introducing Doodh Cola as ‘the world’s most bizarre drink’. As the clip opens, Aradhana is seen with two Earthern Kulhad (Clay Cups), one filled with milk and the other with cola.
With a mischievous smile, she introduces, ‘This is milk and this is cola, together they become dhoodh cola. She goes on to reveal its fascinating backstory, explaining, “The combination of soda and milk was first created in Victorian England.” She further questioned the audience, “Did you know the cola version of it?”

She added, “It was invented by a dhaba in India when Balwant Singh was traveling with his son to Bhagat Singh Village during the hot summers. The drink is typically designed for the hot climate. It is one of the most famous items at their dhaba and people from all around the country and world come over to Kolkata to try it.” Aradhana tried the cola herself in the video and seemed excited about its unique taste.
The Dhaba owner claimed that the procedure to prepare Doodh Cola prevents the milk from curdling when mixed with soda, offering a distinct taste that can’t be duplicated.
The viral video has garnered over one million views and has sparked a variety of reactions by social media users. While some praised the fusion drink for its unique taste, others seemed concerned about its imapct on health. A user wrote, “I am drinking doodh cola from Balwant since childhood its not a new thing, now people from other states discovered it now calling it shit without even trying it.”
Another commented, “Unique but hazardous.” A third remarked, “Firstly, it’s not at all good for health. Secondly, no grandparents ever made it at home. Third in the video, you said it’s one of a Kind in Kolkata. Now you comment it is a household drink made by grandparents. Kuch bhi.” A fourth user expressed his disapproval with the phrase, “Vinashkale viparit buddhi.”
