Viral Video: A video shared by a girl on her Instagram account recently has elicited a strong response online. In the clip, the user named Basu highlighted the daily challenges faced by Kolkata metro passengers during peak hours. “People like us can’t go to the office because of your tomfoolery,” Basu said while pointing toward a jam-packed metro coach.
Meanwhile, she also voiced her frustration over the lack of improvement, stating, “This is literally what happens when you choose your government. You have opened a new metro, but you won’t fix this one.” The video has gained a lot of traction, sparking mixed reactions from social media users. She further added, “Have fun. A new metro has opened in Salt Lake, apparently.”
In her updated caption, Basu explained that the current delay on each metro on the Blue Line is 20 minutes. “Rush during office hours is normal. Metro coming at an interval of 20 mins at the same time is a space for me to question the management, the government,” she wrote.
She also addressed criticism by users who questioned her understanding of metro administration. “Metro is under central- I know. Breathe boys. No need to mansplain just because you can. The metro is inside the territory of the state government, so both are equally to blame. Just because I look well you know elite enough, and I speak in English, triggered you so much? Please channel the same energy into questioning the management,” she said.
