In a rather bizarre incident, passengers on the Surat to Bangkok flight reportedly consumed the whole alcohol stock during the four-hour-long journey. According to reports, there were a total of 300 passengers on the flight who finished about 15 litres of liquor worth Rs 1.8 lakh as well as some popular Gujarati snacks.
The viral video shared by an X user displaying empty alcohol bottles, carried the caption, “Surat to Bangkok flights started today. Passengers drank 15 liters of alcohol on the flight, and the alcohol ran out even before the plane reached Bangkok. 300 passengers consumed alcohol worth ₹1.8 lakhs during the 4-hour-long journey. They even finished all the snacks.”

No official statement has been released so far regarding the incident. However, the event brings attention to alcohol consumption in Gujarat which remains prohibited. Reports state that the Gujarat government has reportedly relaxed these restrictions within the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT) in Gandhinagar.
The incident has sparked a debate on social media with some users finding the event hilarious, while others were more critical, raising question on the airlines. A concerned users asked, “Which airline?”
A second remarked, “Incredible India.” Meanwhile, a third asked, “If it’s prohibited in the state of origin, how it’s served?”
A fourth user jokingly commented, “Yes gujjus are heavy drinkers.” Another user commented, “effect of dry state.”
