In a distressing incident that took place in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur on Tuesday, a man accidentally fell into a drain after the slab collapsed beneath him. A video of the incident, now circulating on social media, shows the man walking toward a shop carrying two cake boxes in his hands.
The footage captures the moment the man falls into the roadside drain, which appears to have some visible cracks. He was immediately pulled out by passers-by. Fortunately, he did not sustain any serious injuries, but the incident is deeply concerning, raising questions about pedestrian safety.
According to reports, the collapsed drain was later cordoned off with stones to prevent further accidents. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers present at the site said the roadside drain cover lacked metal support at its base. A probe is underway, with the municipal body and other authorities investigating the incident.

The video has sparked a flurry of reactions online, with social media users expressing their concern in the comments section. A user said, “Too sad. Govt should immediately conduct a truthful review of all road tenders and approvals of contractors, and the absolute need is the wedding out those corrupt people at Govt offices and contractors. Almost for 4/5 decades, these things have been happening, and there is no value for humans.” Another user asked, “Is there any accountability?”
