New Delhi: After 138 long years, a US family welcomed their first baby girl last month. Since 1885, not a single newborn in the family had been a girl.
Carolyn and Andrew Clark brought baby Audrey into the world on March 17. Families will gather in September 2022 to celebrate the gender reveal, as they were shocked to learn that the first baby girl is going to be born after 138 years.
While talking to the media, The mother said she initially learnt about the Clarks’ unusual genetic inheritance while dating her now-husband and wasn’t convinced until his parents confirmed that the Clarks ‘hadn’t had a girl in our straight line’ since 1885.
Clark asks his wife while recalling, “I’m like, ‘Oh, it’s a 50-50 chance every time. What do you mean?” “He goes, ‘No, legitimately, we have not had a girl in our direct line in over 100 years.”
The mother said, “We kept it a secret to ourselves as well, So I just assumed it was going to be blue in the centre of the cookies and it’d be another boy in the lineage.”
Carolyn, on the other hand, was overjoyed to welcome her newborn after a miscarriage in January 2021.
