A wedding celebration in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district turned unexpectedly chaotic when a stage packed with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders suddenly collapsed, leaving several of them injured. The incident, which has now gone viral online, occurred as the leaders were blessing a newly-wed couple during a reception ceremony.

The wedding reception was hosted for the brother of local BJP worker Abhishek Singh Engineer. It began like any other joyous evening music, decorations, and guests gathering to congratulate the couple. Among those attending were Ballia district BJP chief Sanjay Mishra, former MP Bharat Singh, and several local leaders.
As the bride and groom sat on a decorated couch, leaders began stepping onto the wooden platform to offer blessings and pose for photographs. What started as a routine moment of greetings quickly took a dangerous turn. Within seconds, the stag unable to withstand the rising number of people gave way beneath them.

The footage then shows panic and confusion spreading through the hall. Guests rush forward, some shouting in shock, others scrambling to help those who had fallen. Despite the dramatic visuals, the rescue effort was quick. All individuals were pulled out safely, with only one worker reportedly sustaining a minor injury. The couple remained unharmed.

Speaking after the incident, district president Sanjay Mishra acknowledged that the platform simply wasn’t designed to hold so many people at once. He added that more individuals climbed up than initially expected, which ultimately led to the collapse. He confirmed that no serious injuries were reported.
