New Delhi: An Uber driver donated his kidney to an elderly passenger. The post was shared by an Instagram page named “Good News Movement” with a picture of them in the hospital; the caption in the picture reads, “Uber driver donates kidney to passenger on way to dialysis. If you take down my name and number, I will give you my kidney.”

The driver, Tim Letts, donated his kidney to his passenger, Bill Sumiel. The caption in the post explains that God put Sumiel in Tim’s car so that he could help him. The caption reads, “On the car ride to the dialysis centre, Bill Sumiel and Uber driver Tim Letts struck up a conversation about health problems Sumiel was having. By the end of the car ride, Uber driver Tim Letts told him that “God put him in his car that day” and offered him his kidney.”

“They ended up being a match and Sumiel underwent successful surgery. One year after the surgery, Sumiel feels great and is rehabbing at the University of Delaware’s Renal Rehab centre. Letts lives in Germany but Bill says he still stays in touch with his forever friend who saved his life.”

Netizens Reaction

A user while sharing his relative condition, “I wish someone would do that for my family member who’s been on dialysis for 8 years.” Another user while complimenting the driver, “How beautiful. What the world needs more of.”
