Therefore, it is necessary to be aware of all important historical event that fall on a specific day so that none of the major historical events are missed.’Today’s History’ will look into the significant historical events and major happenings on that particular day of year.

On August 2, following events took place:

1876: Designer of Indian national tricolour Pingali Venkayya was born

Pingali Venkayya was an Indian freedom fighter. He was a staunch follower of Mahatma Gandhi and the designer of the flag on which the Indian national flag was based. He was born in Telugu brahmin family at Bhatlapenumarru, near Machilipatnam, in what is now the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

1877: First CM of Madhya Pradesh Ravishankar Shukla was born

Ravishankar Shukla was a leader of the Indian National Congress, Indian independence movement activist, the Premier of the Central Provinces and Berar from 27 April 1946 to 25 January 1950, first Chief Minister of the reorganised Madhya Pradesh state from 1 November 1956 until his death on 31 December 1956, he was elected from Saraipali, Madhya Pradesh now part of the state of Chhattisgarh.

1956: Former CM of Gujarat Vijay Rupani’s birthday

Vijaybhai Rupani is an Indian politician who served as the 16th Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2016 to 2021. He is a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, representing Rajkot West. He is a member of Bharatiya Janata Party.

2022: Nag Panchami

Soon after Hariyali Teej is Nag Panchami, another significant day in the month of Sawan.  As the name suggests, the day is dedicated to the Naga Devta or the snake god. Nag Panchami is also one of the oldest festivals celebrated across India, during the rainy season.
