Gen Z girls are raving about 'tadpole water' for weight loss. This chia seed drink is trending despite its unusual taste.

Tadpole Water
The latest social media-driven weight loss trend among Gen Z girls is "tadpole water." As reported by the New York Post, this trend involves mixing warm water with chia seeds and a squeeze of fresh lemon, resulting in a drink that resembles baby frogs in a pond. Teenagers and young adults are praising this homemade concoction for its purported benefits, including fat loss, reduced bloating, and improved gut health. An 18-year-old TikTok user, Mariah Padilla, claimed that the drink helped her lose a "pound a day" over three days, affirming its effectiveness for weight loss despite describing its taste as "funky" and difficult to swallow.

Meanwhile, lifestyle influencer Rosita humorously expressed her hopes to achieve a slimmer figure by Thursday with her tadpole water. A cautionary note from a health enthusiast emphasized the importance of soaking chia seeds before consumption to avoid digestive issues, such as blockages and constipation, caused by the seeds expanding in the stomach. Chia seeds, a popular superfood, are recognized for their health benefits, including high fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, and essential vitamins and minerals. Harvard Health reports that chia seeds can enhance feelings of fullness and support weight management by forming a gel-like substance in the stomach that reduces appetite and calorie intake.
