New Delhi: In a video, Pakistani college students dressed up like Bollywood stars, from Shah Rukh Khan’s Devdas to Salman Khan’s Chulbul Pandey in Dabangg to Sushmita Sen’s Chandni in Main Hoon Na, celebrate “Bollywood Day.”
Bollywood Day was reportedly celebrated at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), with students dressing up as iconic characters from Bollywood films. The LUMS photography club (Photolums) recently posted a video of the event on TikTok, which has since been widely shared on other social media platforms. Students dressed up as various Bollywood characters and enacted their famous lines, ranging from Paresh Rawal’s Baburao in the Hera Pheri series to Shah Rukh Khan’s Devdas (2002).
Educational institutions should celebrate their culture, traditions and special days as per #Pakistan but #LUMS and other educational institutions like them teach children against the culture of 🇵🇰. What is the purpose #LUMS held bollywod cultural day similar to Halowen day. pic.twitter.com/Zu2ZZJuuaH

Students went all out, from Mohabbatein’s Raj Malhotra (Shah Rukh Khan) to Ajay Devgn’s iconic cop from the Bajirao Singham franchise and Student of the Year Shanaya Singhania (Alia Bhatt). A student was seen imitating Alia from her 2012 debut film. Wearing a red gown, she delivered the actor’s now-iconic line, “Haath mein pom pom leke ladko ke liye chillana mera style nahi hai (Holding pom poms and cheering for boys is not my style).” One of the students was also dressed as Priyanka Chopra’s character from the film Barfi (2012).
Netzines reaction
While some social media users were upset that Pakistani students were celebrating Bollywood, many others supported them and defended the event. A Pakistani Twitter user said, “Disgusted to see them like this.”, Replying to this while supporting students a user said, “Why? Did they commit any crime by doing that? They did it just for fun.” Another tweeted, “For God’s sake just let them be. Creativity involves free thinking, so let them think freely; don’t hamper them.” A third user commented, “Divided by borders. United by art.” A fourth user wrote, “All of them are looking fabulous.”
