Mumbai: The city’s first salon owned by transgenders The motive behind the step was to make the community strong and independent. Salone will be run by seven transgender staff members and the owner, Zainab, who herself is a member of the community.
Zainab told that this move was important as it is essential to give the transgender community a place in this society and give them career opportunities. This small step has turned out to be a huge step towards the community in a culture where they are shunned and seen as too different.
The Salone is funded with the help of Deutsche Bank and the Rotary Club of Bombay.
The transgender community has frequently faced societal rejection. They continue to fight for survival and equal rights. Some of them, on the other hand, is breaking down that glass ceiling by demonstrating their abilities.
However, the community will gain more recognition as a result of this move, which will assist them in standing on their own. The transgender staff will be taught beauty and salon work, and through the job, all members of the community will be able to make a living. The salon’s primary goal is to provide equality and full respect to the community, among other things.
