There is now a new business trend in a world where wedding planners are guiding couples in planning for their special day the business of wedding sabotage. Ernesto Reinares Varea, a man from Spain, started out in a very unusual but at the same time profitable business which he branded himself as a ‘wedding destroyer.’ What started as a joke has now become a real service as Varea ruins weddings for money and many pre-bookings have been made until the end of the year.

The Start Of An Unconventional Business

A bizarre online ad initiated Varea’s business “If you doubt or do not want to get married and do not know how to refuse, worry no more; I’ll object to your wedding.” To his surprise, he started receiving calls from brides and grooms who had no intention of getting married. This demand turned this rather unusual idea into a full-time job.

How It Works

Varea’s business of torpedoes weddings works like this, all the client needs to do is tell him the date and location of the wedding. On the day of the ceremony, he shows up, pretends to be the true love of the bride or groom, and contests the marriage. Then he leaves with the client, all for a fee of 500 euros, about Rs 47,000.

Interestingly, Varea offers another additional service. He is prepared to take punches or get yelled at by angry family members during the disruption. However, for each punch, the client has to pay an additional 50 euros.

The Wedding Ruiners In High Demand

Business for Varea has been more in demand than anyone ever thought. He recently spoke with Newsflash, stating he was fully booked through to December. Many brides and grooms have been contacting him under the pretext of calling off their weddings out of cold feet.

Mixed Reactions On The Business

The concept of a ‘wedding destroyer’ has gained mixed reactions. On the Today Show, the co-hosts Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb described the idea with amazement. Bush Hager joked “You just have to say, ‘I want to break up,’ for free,” and Kotb pronounced the act weird to pay for someone to break up with you at a wedding.
