‘Sleep-Deprived And Poorly Treated’; Air India Crew Stays At Shabby Hotel With No Bedsheets Or Towels

Hyderabad became the center of criticism for Air India after the airline failed to provide proper accommodations for its crew members. On Wednesday night, after landing, some crew members spent hours looking for a hotel and ended up in a rundown place that had no basic amenities.

Air India Crew Controversy: Cabin crew members, or flight attendants, ensure passengers’ safety and comfort. Airlines take care of their accommodations, especially during long-haul flights. During layovers, airlines book hotels for the crew, ranging from basic to luxurious, so they can rest properly.

Recently, Air India faced criticism for not providing proper accommodations for its crew members. On Wednesday night, after landing in Hyderabad, some crew members spent hours searching for a hotel. They eventually ended up in a rundown place that lacked basic amenities.

An X user posted pictures of the hotel and criticized Air India for their failure. “Air India, if you want to be a world-class airline, you cannot treat your tired crew like this on a scheduled layover. Hunting for hotel rooms for four hours after a flight and this is what you offer? No bedsheets, towels, or basics? Those days are over, and this is unacceptable,” she wrote.

The woman added that the “sleep-deprived and poorly treated” cabin crew will remember this, impacting their work hours. “Dignity cannot be sacrificed for cost-cutting. Period,” she concluded.

Netizens Slam Air India

The picture shows a room with a single bed without a pillow or bedsheet, and a small table with chairs beside it. The reception area looks disorganized. According to PTI, the hotel is actually Air India’s flying training facility, CTE, intended for staff-in-training, not active crew. Air India admitted it was a mistake and promised to take appropriate action.

The post received many reactions on social media, with many criticizing the airline. One user wrote, “Just shocking! I can’t believe it’s gotten this bad.”

Another user commented, “You must be joking! Even the cheapest airlines wouldn’t treat their crew this poorly.”

“Yikes, this looks very shabby. It’s unacceptable in many ways, not just the physical appearance,” one comment read.

The post has been viewed 1 million times on the microblogging platform.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
