New Delhi: Police said a woman in Florida allegedly killed her boyfriend’s 9-year-old daughter by beating her and setting her Rottweiler dog on the child at their home.
On June 17, emergency responders found 9-year-old Jamaria Sessions unresponsive at their Montverde, Florida home. Fox News reports that she was pronounced dead soon after, with her body showing severe signs of abuse, including cuts, burns, bruises, and bite marks.
Florida Woman Accused Of Using Dog To Attack Child
Tyshael Elise Martin, 34, first claimed she found Jamaria unresponsive while getting ready for a family trip to California. However, police grew suspicious after reviewing security footage from the home. The video reportedly shows Martin directing her pet dog Rottweiler to attack Jamaria while she also physically abused the child, kicking and dragging her across the floor. At one point, Martin can be heard saying, “I’m fixin’ to kill her,” according to Fox News.
Investigators discovered that Jamaria had a history of abuse, including physical punishment and beatings. The medical examiner determined her death was a homicide caused by multiple blunt force injuries and burns on her foot, indicating she had been scalded with boiling water.
Martin was arrested on August 28 and is currently held without bond in the Lake County Jail. The local community is shocked by the case, with police calling it one of the worst instances of child abuse they have ever seen.
