India-born Saurabh Netravalkar has become a standout for the United States cricket team in the T20 World Cup 2024, especially after his pivotal performance in the super over against Pakistan. The Oracle employee has garnered widespread attention online for his stellar display. In their tournament opener, Netravalkar shone by claiming two wickets and giving away 18 runs in his four overs as the US triumphed over Babar Azam’s Pakistan. As the internet continues to laud the former USA captain, an older video of him singing Om Namah Shivaya has resurfaced.

Originally posted on his Instagram page in April, the video features Netravalkar playing the ukulele and singing the devotional song in perfect harmony. Celebrating the cricketer’s role in the USA’s victory over Pakistan, an X user shared the video and wrote, “This is Saurabh Netravalkar, who led the USA to victory against Pakistan in a super over.”

Meanwhile, the original Instagram post includes a caption where Netravalkar explains how he finds “positivity and bliss” in the song. In the video, he is sitting in front of the camera dressed casually and holding a musical instrument. Shortly after, he begins singing the song in a beautiful voice, appearing deeply engrossed in the moment.

The now-viral video has sparked numerous reactions on social media, with many praising his cricketing abilities. One user wrote, “He’s a part-time cricketer, an engineer at Oracle with an MS in Computer Science from Cornell University, and also an excellent ukulele player.” Another commented, “Always stay loyal to your roots.”

The video has garnered over 200,000 views and has received more than 7,000 likes so far.

Born in Mumbai, Saurabh Netravalkar played for the India U19 team before moving to the US in 2015. However, his passion for cricket continued, leading him to join the US national team. Alongside his cricketing career, he is employed as the Principal Member of the Technical Staff at Oracle, balancing his time between coding and playing cricket.

In his latest performance, the left-arm fast-medium pacer helped the USA advance by taking the wickets of Mohammad Rizwan in the first over and Iftikhar Ahmed in the 18th over.
