The user expressed confusion, writing, “I honestly don’t get why anyone would pay over 10k for a 2A ticket on a regular superfast train between two well-connected metro cities when a normal 2A ticket costs 2.9k.”

IRCTC introduced the premium tatkal category with dynamic pricing. In premium tatkal, ticket prices rise with demand, unlike tatkal, where ticket prices are fixed.

Such high tatkal and dynamic charges don’t make sense,” and noted that “so many quotas result in very few seats being available under the general booking quota.”

Another user suggested, “You might as well travel without a ticket in 2nd AC, pay the fine, and it would still be less than 10k.”

Many people questioned why someone would book such an expensive Railways ticket when flights are cheaper. One person explained, “Some people can’t fly for medical reasons, and others can’t drive. I know this because I have relatives like that. These new policies are making things difficult for them.”
