A tech professional recently revealed a significant issue with his ₹1.5 crore apartment, reporting severe water leakage from the ceiling. On August 5, 2024, the techie posted a photograph on social media showing substantial water dripping from the ceiling, which caused considerable damage to the walls and flooring of his luxury apartment in a high-end residential complex. This alarming situation raises serious concerns about the quality of construction and the effectiveness of maintenance by property builders.

Though it was bought by high expectations of luxury and comfort in one of the tony localities of Bengaluru, the leak has caused a lot of distress, and the resident now demands the builder take immediate action. The situation is all the more grave because it is a premium property, sold as one of the finest in quality and amenities.

Real Estate Scrutiny

Responding to the public outcry, the property management assured that they were doing everything possible to investigate the issue and deal with it promptly. They shall ensure that a team of experts comes in to assess the damage and do the necessary repairs to ensure that no such similar problems arise in the future. The company is willing to relocate the affected resident temporarily while the necessary repairs are done to his house, showing commitment towards dealing with the situation in the quickest way possible.

While the incident raises another issue of high-value property buyers’ insecurity against reliable construction and maintenance services, a booming real-estate market in Bengaluru has made a buyer all the more alert about his investment’s quality. The techie’s throwaway experience in Bengaluru brought forth the necessity for stringent quality checks and strong after-sales support.

A user commenter remarked, ‘Cost-cutting measures must be behind this. It seems some savvy contractor or owner opted for cheaper pipes to splurge on gifts for their partner. You essentially funded their presents and affectionate gestures.’

Another observer commented, ‘The high price of premium apartments typically covers the location, address, brand, community, and amenities, but it rarely reflects the quality of construction.’
